Slow Mag presents...

Post by james »

FELIX KUBIN - "nearly famous sci-fi pop impresario" - plays the start of
our new season Kafe Da, Norwich, this Thursday, October 23.

Kubin, one half of the Hamburg-based futuristic noise band Klangkrieg,
lives and works against the mainstream with his demented, surrealist
electro-pop ditties, accompanied by his charismatic self on various
keyboards and other electronics including a Gameboy. His side activities
include animation, experimental broadcasting and radio plays. He also runs
Gargarin Records which has seen releases/remixes by Max Turner, Mouse on
Mars and lots of obscure German artistes who we really couldn't tell you a
thing about.

GEORG from A-Musik is travelling with him and wants to play some records,
so let's hope some WD-40 fixes the crossfader on our workhorse mixer.

Support comes from KID ATOM (Hyper Kinako), whose folktronica has a fun
edge; and S.H.I.T. (Stop Helping Imperialist Tyranny), who has been
jamming ambient beats at various city clubs in recent times.

There will also be realtime video experiments from art skoolers RE:MEDIAL,
and more records started and stopped by us, Matt and Vincey, aka the Slow
Magazine DJ Display Team.

It's upstairs at Kafe Da, in Bedford Street, running from 8pm to midnight.
Entry £4 on the door.

Future Slow events:

Wednesday November 12:
Rephlex Records tour with Bogdan Raczynski (Poland), Astrobotnia (Finland)
and "DJ Rephlex Records".
Tour organised by Logarhythm, supported by the Arts Council.

Around a week later, possibly:
Vert (Germany), Ascoltare (Cambridge)
or Zeigenbock Kopf (international)

Tuesday December 16:
Schneider TM (Germany), Christ (Scotland).
Slow Christmas Party!

PS - some young scamps under the name of Maggi had the cheek to ask us to
publicise their rival event on the 23rd at the Mustard Lounge (upstairs at
the Imagine bar, near Bonds/John Lewis) featuring Crispin Dior
(333:Shoreditch). We know your loyalty to us is unfoundering, so have no
fear in telling you about it. It runs until 1.30am and entry is £3 after
9pm. We're expecting live acts to finish approx. 11.30 at out event, so
you can pop off that afterwards - or down to The Light Bar for The
Underground, or to the opening night of the 1500-capacity Mercy (if
they've finished it). The next Maggi is on November 6, with Tim Love Lee
(Tummy Touch), who we'd love to see - but have already got our tickets for
the Timinem Westwood Show at the Waterfront, where the once
partially-local boy will be given the freedom of the city (we expect).
