This is going to be the beginning of something beautiful folks. Big Dish Go and Surge finally amalgamate for what will be the beginning of many a great collaboration in the Irish electronic music scene. And their first party is nothing short of spectacular, bringing Ellen Allien, Alex Smoke and Al Keegan to The Button Factory on October 1st 2010.

Berlin born Ellen Allien (B Pitch Control) returns to the Dublin stage for a very special set on October 1st in The Button Factory.

Having spun in Fischlabor and Tresor by 1993, Allien is anything but a novice in the DJ world.

Hosting programmes on Berlin’s Kiss Fm and starting her own label Braincandy, she started throwing parties called B Pitch Control which later turned into her label, and she achieved all of this in the 90’s.

You might be most familiar with Stadtkind (2001), Berlinette (2003), Thrills (2005) and together with Apparat Orchestra of Bubbles (2006). Allien is sure to feed your ears with some tasty techno and electro beats.

Next up is Scottish legend Alex Smoke gracing the decks. Stylistically comprising mainly of kicks, claps, pads and stabs he is always combining his acclaimed electronica with classical influences.

This comes as no surprise really as his main influences are drums, piano, and cello. Having being classically trained in these as a young boy, they mean a lot to him in the relation to how arranges his harmonies and melodies.

You will probably be most familiar with his ‘Sci-Fi-Hi-Fi Vol. 3’ from 2006. Influenced mainly by Aphex Twin, Autechre and Old Detroit Techno, his music is known for being somewhat dark and gloomy. His debut on Soma was the euphoric ‘Chica Wappa’, described by Smoke as “undoubtedly the most optimistic track I'll ever write. My music will never be this upbeat again.”

Apart from being closely linked to Soma Records the producer also runs his own Hum And Haw imprint. Alex Smoke is now planning to record a new score for F.W. Murnau's classic film version of 'Faust'.

"I’ve had one of the busiest years so far in terms of music this year: I’ve just finished a sample CD called 'Dexter Sinister' which is all loops and sound design." He told Italian Blog Soundwall.. Alex Smoke is set to debut his new film score in February.

Supporting on the night is one of Dublin’s finest house DJ’s, local talent Al Keegan. Al has been playing records since the tender age of 14. Since then he has added many a string to his bow, including, launching 12ten nights, Mixed Salad, Acii Disco, and launching the infamous Dublin based Aciitone Digital label. Prepare to be impressed by this Dublin legend.
