Favourite Bloc Sets?

Post by Trexica4 »

Big hitters slightly let me down.
Aphex; ear splittingly bass heavy,
FSOL too ambient,
Africa Bambaata too fucking shit (ACDC+"Feel the love generation" for gods sake), Appleblim with questionable MC.
However,
Green Velvet was sublime, as was Ed Rush & Optical, Egyptian Lover, Billy Nasty, Unlikely & Kutz, Bizzy B, Lusinda, Radioactive Man & Jerome Hill. The last 3 of which were in jacs from 7 on saturday & included the pro dancers, some of which I believe were rather feminine men, and also included a girl dancing on stage gurning & flicking V's, slugging down pints. Almost the sexiest thing I think I have ever seen. Was anyone else there?
Music better last year, but still rip raw, better venue except security, definite for next year.

Pole was brilliant
I'm one of the few who thought FSOL's set was ace, could've extended it with more archive material though
We got off on Lee Scratch Perry and Scientist, and Carl Craig was the shit
Jamie Lidell was the most surprising act there in our opinion, very cool
Also loved Green Velvet.

I believe in everything until it's disproved. It all exists, even if it's in your mind - John Lennon

They took a looooong time to get them up last year...as in it was 2009 before we had most of 2008's sets! Rights issues must be fun to sort out I guess. Hopefully we can get them a little quicker this time!

Egyptian Lover - even better than expected, top performer
Carl Craig - lovely stuff
Zion Train - very rousing, nice dubbing of live instruments
Scientist - slow and chilled but highly enjoyable
Dan Bell (was that him about 3/4am in main room Friday, nice clean techie tunes ?)
