Fancy Dress

Post by irishemma »

is there going to be a Sunday fancy dress again?

Any ideas of what the theme might be - I need something to plan to distract me from my thesis.

What about 1920's?

Yo Bloc -Any chance of making it more obvious - like stickin it up front on the website or summat?? I just heard a lot of "I didn't know there was fancy dress" type excuses after last years Bloctastic mega weekend. And if there's one thing I hate its excuses, especially excuses for not dressin' up. I mean come on!

Indeed, Chavs is an awful theme, ugly and too narrow. Whatever it is needs to have wider scope for interesting, weird and wacky outfits.

Went to a fancy dress a while ago with a "Kids TV characters" theme which ended up in some pretty good outfits. Think Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Thundercats, Care Bears, Dennis the Menace etc.

The theme needs to be something broad ... e.g. under the sea, flying things, space, ancient egypt, farming, cops and criminals etc.

A lot of these have been done before, but as soon as you become too specific it takes a lot of the creativity out of the process and everyone will just end up with similar costumes.

One of my group suggests "Nazis, nuns and nonces"

Sorry. He made me say it.

Yeah it should be broad... Chav is FAR too narrow and rubbish. Animals, old people, a colour, a decade (ie the 20s), the carnival, the circus, WHAT YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP, farmers, aristocrats, aliens... Anything but chavs!!!
