NEW YEAR’S EVE //
TAKES PLACE IN AN INCREDIBLE SHOREDITCH WAREHOUSE SPACE.

NEW YEAR’S DAY //
THE PARTY CONTINUES AROUND THE CORNER ACROSS TWO FLOORS AND ONE OF LONDON’S BEST ROOF TERRACES AT THE QUEEN OF HOXTON.

URBAN NERDS are the bass loving party starters who’ve brought an eclectic mash-up of dubstep, electro, garage, grime and UK bass to East London for the past 4 years, throwing unrivalled warehouse parties and collaborating with the likes of Fabric, Matter, Snowbombing Festival, Mixmag, Time Out and the DMC World DJ Championships. Their notorious warehouse events and club nights have played host to some of the biggest DJ and live talent in the game, with Rusko, Benga, Zinc, Joker, Shy FX, Toddla T, Goldie, Skepta and Tinchy Stryder all having graced the booth at a Nerds dance.

ATG are the original London graffiti crew, with an infinite squad of soldiers on streets across the capital. For 2 years the ATG family have shaken the underground party scene with their much talked about ATG Do One night, placing the dirtiest, bass-led beats and blips alongside late night tech house and minimal sessions that go on long into the early hours! Do One’s already taken in a tour of the U.S.A, numerous Glastonbury showcases, and collaborations with Jade Jagger’s Jezebel night. Their squad of immensely talented DJs, producers, artists and creative tastemakers are a force not to be reckoned with. Do One, Do One!
Following last year’s sell-out Shoreditch warehouse party that featured legendary garage king, DJ EZ, dubstep pioneers Loefah & Coki (DMZ) and grime master Skepta, Urban Nerds and ATG team-up again to bring in 2011!

Nicky Blackmarket exclusive mix for Urban Nerds X ATG NYE!

Ahead of his set at this year’s massive Urban Nerds x ATG NYE warehouse party, we’ve managed to grab a very rare exclusive mix from legendary drum & bass DJ and the pioneering founder of London’s BM Records, the master himself…Nicky Blackmarket!

Giving a 30 minute sneak preview of what’s to come at the warehouse, Nicky delved deep into his record collection (we’re loving the fact this was mixed on pure vinyl) and dug out classic D&B and jungle cuts from champions like Congo Natty, Zinc, Shy FX and Mampi Swift. This was recorded LIVE in a London studio and It’s great to hear the crackle of dubs in a mix again!

On NYE he’ll be joined by mic controllers MCs Det & Navigator for the ultimate old skool revival set, to see 2011 in with the biggest bang in London town! Original ravers and dubsteppers alike need to check this for some headucation, Blackmarket style! BOOM.

Nicky Blackmarket is one of the original pioneers of drum and bass, and he is still the most faithful soldier for the scene around the world. His early influences came from his mother's background in the jazz scene, and it is improvisation and variety that characterise DJ performances throughout his career. At the start of the eighties, he played with long-time collaborator Clarky and began to mix all forms of dance music, at house parties and on the radio. Friends FM, run by Mad B, gave Nicky a good education and the momentum to start his own shop in London, the legendary Blackmarket Records.

In 1992, as the house scene moved towards breakbeat, Nicky created a separate department downstairs to cater for the sound that would eventually be called Drum and Bass. In the mid-nineties he moved into production, making his first record ‘Spam EP’ along with various remixes and releases on his label Gyroscope, with artists like Ray Keith. This exposure fuelled his DJ career and Nicky decided to put all his efforts into playing his music around the world. "First and foremost I am a DJ." As the jungle scene exploded Nicky formed his legendary partnership with the late Stevie Hyper D. These performances are still regarded as the standard by which all others are judged, and mp3s of those sets will probably be on the Internet forever!

1. Gang Related / Mask – Concentration
2. Sound Of The Future – Dual Voltage (DJ SS ’99 Remix)
3. Q Project – Champion Sound

HUMBUG MIX BY RATTUS RATTUS

Urban Nerds master Rat and badman DJ Rattus Rattus has just dropped a fresh solo mix to see you through Christmas, touching on some classic party bangers and the best of this Autumn’s bass led releases, with the usual eclectic Nerds touch that sees the likes of dubstep, electro, UK Funky and grime influenced smashers interlaced with a few surprises, like the old skool garage gems Ratty’s dropped in here to get things bubbling for the festival season!

If you’ve caught Rattus Rattus behind a deck near you recently, you’ll recognize some of the sweet sounds on here, as he’s collated some of the best beats to drop this winter. Girl Unit’s future garage goodness ‘Wut’, Warrior One’s brilliant dancehall influenced ‘Lord of Bashy’, the True Tiger camp’s ‘Slang Like This’ remix and ‘Time Stamp’ from the one like Roska (Roska, Roska) all mark another ridiculous start to the autumn party season. Also keep your ears wide open for one of Rattus Rattus’ own riddims, electro bass bomb ‘Dutch Style’!

Another ravey party starter from Ratty…go get your download on! Rattus Rattus will be reunited with partner in crime Klose One at Urban Nerds x ATG NYE at the Hearn Street Car Park, where they’ll be bringing in the New Year with a very sick midnight set. BOOM.
